Alicia Yan is the Principal Forensic Engineer at MC Forensics. With over two decades of experience in failure analysis and reliability assessments, Alicia brings a rare and powerful combination of credentials to every investigation: she is a licensed Professional Engineer (P.Eng.), a Certified Fire and Explosion Investigator (CFEI), an Accredited Tier Designer (ATD), and holds a Global Professional Master of Laws (GPLLM) from the University of Toronto. This unique multidisciplinary expertise allows her to deliver exceptionally clear, evidence-based analysis for the most complex claims.

Alicia is a leading authority on determining the cause of complex electrical system failures. Her primary expertise focuses on investigations involving transformer failures, high-, medium- and low-voltage switchgear failures, generator and control systems.

As a leading data centre failure expert, her authority is underscored by her experience as a former course instructor for the Uptime Institute’s Accredited Tier Designer (ATD) program. Her expertise also extends to failures in renewable energy systems (Battery Energy Storage Systems – BESS, solar, and wind turbine failures) and complex fire and explosion incidents. Furthermore, she investigates failures in the large-scale HVAC and cooling systems integral to mission-critical operations. On all fronts, Alicia provides the deep technical analysis required to support subrogation and recovery efforts.
